Hi Loves.
This last 18 months, is the first time I have ever lived alone. Naturally, I am learning a lot about myself. This is new information that I kind of knew, but not really.
For instance, I am not a very good multitasker. I tend to focus on one thing at a time. Deeply. The classes I have been teaching at the Jonesborough Senior Center for the last 6 weeks—Journaling and The Joy of Art-Making have been great, but I’ve been unable to get any substantial writing done. Same thing happened when I taught my Fearless Writing for Women classes a few years ago. I love teaching, but it comes at a price. So after this Wednesday I can hardly wait to sit in my writing chair and do that thing that I am most passionate about. Then I get to take a deep, full breath of something that fulfills me
I have a little over 100 pages of the new Honey Honeycutt Cozy Mystery Series, which is what I had just before Christmas. By this time next month I hope to have twice that number.
It’s all about energy People have always required a lot of energy for me. Not only am I an introvert, but some people are hard work for me. Maybe you can relate? They may look to me for answers I don’t have. They may be poor communicators and expect me to take care of them in someway. A lot of people truly don’t know how to take responsibility for their own lives and project a starry-eyed wonder in my direction, as if I am someone more special than they are, when really all I am is someone who values storytelling and knows how to keep my butt in a chair long enough to create a story and polish it over and over again.
It is when I am writing that time seems to stand still and hours pass as though they are minutes. It is when I am creating a story out of my imagination, creating something out of nothing, that I feel fulfilled. This is the closest I get to feeling serenity. To me, serenity is sliding into a pure form of self expression. It is being yourself in a deep and fulfilling way. Every day for the rest of my life, I want to sprint toward serenity and have it sprint toward me. May you do the same.

You are building healthy relationships through the classes you are teaching and that is a good thing. Now you’ll come back to writing full time with renewed energy. It’s all good! xoxo
Obviously, those neuroscientists have not studied my ability to eat ice cream, partake of a chocolate old fashioned donut and drink coffee, pretty much simultaneously---i.e., multi-tasking! I hear you, Susan, on getting back to writing...people can be positively exhausting!/tarra
