Twenty or thirty times a day, I write on a piece of paper, This, too, shall pass . It gives me comfort to know that this is only a temporary setback. I am getting better. Although slowly. I am walking faster. I am getting stronger. There will eventually be an end to this recovery period.
"This too shall pass" (Persian: این نیز بگذرد, romanized: īn nīz bogzarad) is an adage of Persian origin about impermanence. It reflects the temporary nature, or ephemerality, of the human condition — that neither the negative nor the positive moments in life ever indefinitely last. The general sentiment of the adage is found in wisdom literature throughout history and across cultures, but the specific phrase seems to have originated in the writings of the medieval Persian Sufi poets.
If you’re dealing with something difficult, try this statement as a mantra. If something in your life feels like a long, slow slog, try this on for size. While it seems never ending, it, too, is only temporary. We will get through it. Normalcy will return. I look forward to it. So does Rocky.
Love you! ♥️
Thanks for this Susan. I am 80+ and know it to be very true. The older you get the more you realize life is a passage with many chapters
I understand how u feel and ur struggle. I am going thru a similar situation. We can recover together. I will pray over u and ur medical situation. I have a rescue dog too. His name is Professor. He is my joy every day. He keeps me striving towards recovery so I can walk with him again. Ur books r a blessing to me. And I am reading the Temple Series while I am laid up in bed. Ur books bring me comfort.
