Moving On ...

writergabriel.substack.com

I do not move lightly. Nor do I move naively. Starting over is hard and often lonely. I’ve done it a few times over the years already. Plus I'm leaving behind people that I love dearly. Yet I’ve never been clearer that this is the right thing for me to do. A fresh start is called for.

People my age have already retired, or are getting ready to. Yet I feel as though my best writing is ahead of me. At the same time that I feel myself slowing down, my passion for this creative life I lead deepens. I still have things to say. I still have stories to write; characters to create and develop. After 30 years of crafting stories, I am, after all, at the top of my game. Why quit now?

Movers arrive Monday morning. I finished packing a week ago. This last week I have been driving around saying goodbye to 30 years of my history. Saying goodbye with gratitude and thankfulness. At times I feel as though I am waiting at a train station, sitting on my suitcase, listening for a distant whistle and watching the sky for the white smoke as the engine comes around the bend to take me to my new destination. It is finally almost here. I blow you a kiss and wish you well as I step onto the train.😘

I’m not really going anywhere further than your inbox. Just down the road a bit. But it gives me an opportunity to thank you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for blowing a kiss back and wishing me well.

More to come!

Love you!

Susan

Embracing the Creative and leaving behind life as we know it, with all of it’s distractions pulling in different directions, can be a bit scary! Truly, it isn’t a decision made lightly. However, there is a certain sense of freedom and excitement for what is to come, for all of the creative thoughts waiting to be brought to life! Safe travel to your new home and embrace your journey! 🤗💖

Life is moving along, and us with it, even if we are staying at the same location, so the real difference is "who is in the driver's seat?" It is worth trying to stay in the driver's seat as long as we can...whether it's in a Lamborghini...or a rollator! We look forward to your new perspectives as the scenery changes.
