Happy Mother's Day, my friends.
I’ve come to a very important awareness of late. No, I'm not retiring. I hope to be writing on my last day here on Earth. But I have discovered that I am not dead yet. (My octogenarian friends tell me that at 67 I am still a ‘youngster’) And I still have some living to do.
I have decided that Jonesborough just isn't a good fit for me. There is not enough going on here. I love these rolling Tennessee hills, but I need more vibrance, more culture, more community of like-minded souls….
Will I ever find my people? Sometimes I wonder. But I've got to keep looking, or I will always regret it.
As for Jonesborough, I will always be grateful. It gave me a place to regroup after a devastating divorce. It gave me time and a place to recover. Most importantly, it helped me remember who I am.
So, after much thought and prayer, I am moving to Greenville, South Carolina. It's an up-and-coming Southern town with a vibrant arts community. They have great benefits for retirees, as well.
I will be living in Northwest Greenville, near Travelers Rest, just up the road from Furman University, where I can take classes for free if I want. Art history, anyone? There are also multiple coffee shops, where I like to write, as well as several university and public libraries. They have an Art Museum in town, and several music venues like the Peace Center, and Street musicians. I also hope to find a church that makes sense for me.
I just finished packing, and I am freshly scaled-down to solely things that I love and cherish. The mover is lined up. I am waiting for an apartment on the first floor to become available, and then I am out of here and back in South Carolina and near the Blue Ridge Mountains.
While I'm waiting on an apartment, I plan to get back to work. Honey Honeycutt and the cozy mystery are waiting for me.
I forgot the writing prompts last week, so I will give you twice as many this time. Take your time. Try to do one a day for fifteen or twenty minutes.
If you were going to write a novel, where would you have it take place? It can be anywhere in the world or other planets. What would the novel be about?
What is one thing you could start doing today that would change your life? Write about it.
Write about a time in your life that you were resilient.
If you could transport yourself to a time in history, recent or ancient times, where would you go? What would you see?
What is something you wish you had said?
Write about an adventure you would like to take.
Love you!
Susan
I have no doubt you will find your place! ♥️
Susan, This is great news. You will love the area and I see many wonderful moments ahead for you. Congratulations.
