Happy Easter, my friends. Happy Spring! It’s a bit cool here today: 64 degrees with a frost advisory tonight. Spring is taking a slow walk up the mountain in the distance, a kaleidoscope of green.
I am loving it here. I am just home from my Sunday ritual of sitting at the cafe at Barnes & Noble and having a cup of English Breakfast tea. I like to sit there and think about the coming week and what I hope to accomplish.
Sometimes it dawns on me how much my life has changed in the last few months. All the newness can be a bit overwhelming at times, but I am absent any regrets. In some ways it feels like I’ve been wandering the desert for 40 years and finally home again, left to discover who I am at this juncture of my life.
I still marvel at the Tennessee hills and the rolling farmland around me. And maybe I am imagining things, but life feels simpler here in Jonesborough. Less dramatic. A couple of weeks ago I joined a writer’s group here—something I’ve done on and off over the last 30 years. I see this as a sign that I’m ready to start writing again. I finally got the last box unpacked and stuff put away. I moved here on February 21st and took my time settling in.
(Paid subscribers will get a two more photos, so be looking for them. One of my living room and one of my writing desk. Thank you for supporting my work.)
These two are from my back porch. I have big plans for this area once it warms up a bit. I spend a lot of time outside, when weather permits. A dogwood tree is in bloom a few yards away, as well as a huge beech tree. I will be planting flowers in containers soon, so I hope to send you more photos when I get them planted.
Has Spring sprung where you are living? Where is your favorite place to sit outside? D
With every good wish for you and yours, as well as lots of love. xoxo
P.S.
A quote from T.S. Eliot ~ “We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.”
Your view is spectacular, very peaceful and soothing...and the T.S. Eliot quote has been one of my favorites ever since I first read it. I am VERY impressed with how much you have accomplished in what is really quite a short time! Quite inspirational!
I so look forward to your journal entry, Susan. I’ve read all of your books. I’ve been a huge fan of yours for years. Can’t wait to discover your next new book.
