Hi my friends. Paid Subscrbers just received Chapter 13 of the Honey Honeycutt Cozy Mystery. I have never shared a book with readers this early, and they know the story might change a bit before I finish it (they always do). But so far, readers are willing to take the risk. Also, it seems like people are enjoying it! 🥳 which is always good news.
I hope you are having an excellent weekend! Mourning doves are procreating like crazy over here. There's a lot of cooing going on. But there are worse things, right?
I don't know about you, but there were moments last winter when I thought Spring would never get here. But here it is, just as scheduled. Plenty to be grateful for on a day like today.
In the year 2012, when the Secret Sence of Wildflower was nominated the Best Book of 2012 by the esteemed reviewer, Kirkus Reviews, I walked every day for a year at the Davidson River near my home in Piscah Forest. Rain or shine. Wind or Hail. Sweltering heat or frigid cold. I was out there every single day for 365 days. I do crazy stuff like that periodically. I'm not sure what I was trying to prove, except that I was alive, and that I cherished that river like an old friend.
I collected a stone from the river every day that year, and then threw them back in the river at the end. But before that, some friends and I had a picnic at the end and made a spiral with the stones. Here is the photo that was taken by my friend, Becky Young.
It was a glorious Spring that year, probably because it was considered the “rainiest year on record” in the forest that year. But I had never witnessed the Spring that up-close and personal before. Every day it was miraculous in some way. I felt so privileged to see it.
Take a moment to celebrate the Spring sometime the weekend. Let it give you hope. Let it instill you with resilience. Let it remind you of the magic of renewal. Listen to the birds.
Love what you wrote about spring. I am in Florida and enjoying spring here too. Cooler evenings and mornings.
